These will probably come with little surprise since I've only been around for a short time on the interwebs. I haven't done as much exploration as I'd like to, but these five bloggers are the ones who've caught my attention so far and held it - for good reason!
1. A Sexual Being - From the down-to-earth, tell-it-like-it-is, Kayla Lords.
One of the first articles to catch my attention when I ran across the amazing site Kinkly, was one from miss Kayla Lords. Her style of writing made me feel like I was sitting in front of her, having a conversation, and I wanted to see more. I cruised over to her website and walked around for a bit, checking out the scenery and various attractions and really liked what I saw.
I am someone who has a hard time with a lot of sensory "noise" (auditory, visual, tactile), so I really appreciate places that have great information along with a "soft" feel. This may seem like a trivial thing to some, but for me, Kayla's site, though packed with great content, still has a very calm feel to it and that enables me to poke around with feeling overwhelmed.
I've immensely enjoyed participating in Masturbation Monday! Reading posts from fellow writers is always a pleasure (he he he), and it's been a good exercise for me in keeping things short - I have a hard time cutting out words!
2. Kinkly - Straight Up Sex Talk with a Twist.
I absolutely love Kinkly. This site has information on just about every topic you can think of, for just about every kind of person. In my opinion, the big strength of Kinkly is that they employ the writing of a great cast of bloggers and educators, which brings variety and a balance of differing and valuable opinions to the table.
3. The Smutlancer - Kayla Lords sharing years of industry experience with the rest of us.
This site is all about educating writers who wish to monetize their work. Kayla has years of experience as both a freelance writer and a blogger, and she's bringing her knowledge to life on this site and in a terrific podcast which you can listen to on your favorite medium.
I feel like a sponge, soaking up the information she's putting down. There is a huge difference between being a writer and being a blogger and if you want to be successful at either or both, you'll need to learn what those differences are and how to navigate them. I've published three fairly successful novels under my pen name and am very comfortable writing 100,000 words about a character whose life has unfolded in my imagination, but give me my blog and I feel like, "C is for Cat. A is for Apple".
The Smutlancer is a resource you're going to find yourself returning to again and again if you, like me, are learning how to crawl through blog-land.
4. Rebel's Notes - Marie Rebel shares her life through the most amazing pictures and words.
I enjoyed the Wicked Wednesday meme and Rebel's participation in Masturbation Mondays, but it wasn't until I decided to click over to her site, that I found myself both enthralled, and at the same time, a little uncomfortable, window shopping through her notes. I say uncomfortable because this woman literally puts it all out there for the world to see, should they choose, and I, being quite new to the world of sex-blogs, felt like an interloper or some sort of creepy peeping-tom.
It took a little time, me, forcing myself to continue, reminding my puritanical brain that she had indeed meant for people to see those pictures, to read those words, that she had, in fact, invited me to that place, before I allowed myself to really explore what she was offering. I found out that this lady has so much to offer - not just as a woman who bares it all for us, but as an opinionated, encouraging member of the blogging community. I appreciate her open willingness to share her life with total strangers in a way that fosters conversation and provokes thought.
5. Coffee & Kink - Amy educates us about toys, kink, and polyamorous relationships - She also does giveaways!
This may be the last on my list, but it is certainly not the least! Amy has created something truly special with her Coffee & Kink blog. She speaks her mind in a way that makes one stop and think about her point, even if they don't want to. I feel like she's got a bit of velvet hammer to her - like she's snarky and doesn't pull any punches, but she can do some crazy Jedi mind trick at the same time to make you say, "oh, you know what? I think you might be right."
I absolutely love her posts about relationships and her own struggles. Amy's got a talent for organizing her writing in a way that's logical and easy to follow. Her posts always leave me wanting more, but feeling like she said everything she needed to say too. I'm looking forward to the new year and new posts from CK!
Thank you for reading!
