For many, many years, my sister has been working hard, taking care of so many people, making sure everyone around her and in her business has what they need and are succeeding. She works tirelessly and rarely complains. She hasn't had many opportunities (or taken them anyway) to do something for herself, something she wants. Well, that changed late last year when several of her clients got together and told her they'd help pay for a trip if she wanted to go.
My sister, being the person she is, refused at first. She told me about this several days after it happened and I was flabbergasted! "Why in the world would you not take them up on this!?" I questioned. After a long talk and some convincing that there was no reason for her NOT to take advantage of the generosity being offered, she decided to accept their gift.
So, my sister is doing something she's wanted to do for a long time - she's having an adventure! Seven weeks of backpacking in New Zealand with a guided group.
I'm so grateful to her clients who recognized her need for a vacation and time for herself and stepped up with unmatched generosity to help her out, and I'm so proud of her for going and doing this incredible thing which is also a little scary because she's doing it alone (even though she's meeting the other members of the group there).
Also, I'm expecting excellent book fodder when she returns!
So, today's photo is not about me, but as I dropped her off at the airport, I was bursting at the seams with pride and also I'm going to miss her like crazy while she's not right by me. I simply had to share.
